Michael Houston began his singing career some 30 years ago with the acappella group Unique Blend, which featured two of his cousins and a childhood friend. Soon after parting ways with the group Michael joined forces with his brother Jeff Houston to form the Jazz fusion group Positive Attitude. Ten years later the band evolved into the Sammy Award winning R&B ensemble The J Project band. Since then Michael has been involved in several different projects, most notably The Critics, a local wedding band and The Talented Ones, an R&B dance band. Michael latest project The 5th Edition band is a return to danceable Smooth Soul Music with a touch of Jazz that’s classy and sexy. The 5th Edition's name evolved from it being the 5th band that Michael has been involved in using live musicians.
5th Edition features some of the most talented, and creative musicians in the area including; Deyquan Bowens, musical director and keyboardist; Al Cutri, Saxophonist, Sylvester “Silk Sly” Livingston, bassist and guitarist; and John “Budda” Bowens, drummer.
